Myths About Sweating

Having troubles with excessive sweating, but your buddys are still making fun of you and not believing you? Are they telling you how lucky you are who are sweating so much which is known to be good for you? Well here I am to help you show them high-noses what hyperhidrosis really is. But dont be too hard on them, there are a lot of differenet misconceptions out there, and many seem to have heard of them and in addition believe in them! Here are a few of the biggest myths about sweating.

The most common one you will hear about will come in the gym and goes like “No sweat equals no work”, meaning that if you arent sweating, then you arent working hard enough. This can come from people that sweat excessively that will defend themselves with the fact they are just working hard (not that sweating means that there is something wrong with them, but people with illnesses tend to be defensive on about those subjects). What people dont seem to know is that sweating is just the bodys way of cooling itself off. When you excercise, your body temperature rises, and therefore you sweat. Many would now think, doesnt that mean that sweating equals hard work, and the answer to that is not necesserily. People who come to the gym in 5 layers of clothing and spandex on top of that wont let the body breathe and that will certainly make the body heat up more than the next person which trains in only shorts and a t-shirt.

Sweating helps you lose fat and makes you look good. Another notion that is completely wrong. People come to gyms and run like the plague was chasing them in hopes of sweating more. You even find those that wear more clothes stating that they want to get rid of the fat. They also continue to believe this as when they are done training they can see that their weight has gone down, but this is only because of the sweating which releases fluid to cool of the body.

People also believe that sweat smells. Its not so weird that people believe this as its not far from the truth. The sweat itself has no odor, but the reason that someone that sweats often smells comes from the bacterias that are on the body of that person. When these combines themselves, then the odor comes to life. So if you start sweating right after shower, dont be afraid if the smell, if you showered thouroughly, you wont start smelling. Now here is where the deodorant comes into play. It helps to damper the smell and prevents it from coming back. Only for a limited time offcourse.

Because of the smell, there is also a notion going that the sweat rids the body of bacterias and toxins. Therefore people go to the sauna to sweat exstensively. This is offcourse also wrong. Its the liver and the kidneys job of doing this, and it then gets transfered out of the body in other forms. Again, its only the body thats trying to cool itself of, and therefore it starts sweating.

As one can see, there exists a lot of myths about sweating, but the fact remains that sweating starts when the body tries to cool itself of. So to start the fat loss and to rid the body of toxins, the best route is to live a healthy lifestyle where one eats a healthy diet and get lots of excercise.
